Pembrey Circuit is gearing up for one of its biggest events of the season next weekend (June 25) as the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship descends on South Wales.

Drawing crowds wherever it goes, Pembrey being no exception, the high-octane adrenaline rush that is rallycross is set to deliver spectacular wheel-to-wheel racing – with the track’s open paddock policy allowing spectators to get right up close to the action.

Marking the first of two visits for the championship this year (the second coming on September 23/24), Pembrey’s brand new rallycross circuit will be used; therefore providing a fresh challenge for teams and drivers alike.

Following on from substantial track developments that took place in the winter, the revised track is set to further spice up the racing. Beginning on the existing layout, the first change that drivers will face will be the approach to the loose section.

Whereas previously drivers would head over the circuit crossing and onto the mixed surface, they will now bear left and continue onto the original circuit before turning tight onto the loose - giving spectators an ever greater vantage point.

A newly improved joker section will also provide an added element to the already frenetic and unpredictable on-track thrills.

Earlier this season the BTRDA Rallycross Championship debuted on the new layout which saw an abundance of praise filtering through afterwards.

“We’re all now ready for the British Rallycross Championship to arrive,” said Pembrey Circuit Manager Phil Davies. “A lot of work has taken place over the winter on our rallycross circuit and the response we have had from the running that has taken place on it so far has been really positive.

“I’m confident in saying that our circuit is up there as one of the best in the country, it has a great mix of everything. The British Rallycross Championship is one of the standout events on the calendar for us and it is never short of excitement.

“If you’ve never watched rallycross in person before then it is well worth heading trackside, nothing can quite prepare you for the levels of speed and entertainment that they bring with them. It is a great day out for all the family.”
